Twilight musing

I lay there gazing through windows of time,
and caught but a glimpse of the great divine.
Visions of light that swirled round and round,
Spirals of worlds, cosmic merry go rounds.

All connected through time and space,
across vast distances, to a far away place.
And in this place of dark and light,
where I lay humbled before the night,

I heard but an echo of eternity's truth,
spoken to me in my twilight youth:
Alone we are not at all,
Nor insignificant, though we feel small.

All are connected in a cosmic circle,
The ties of which are unbreakable.
Like distant stars, points of light,
which all add beauty to the night.
So too are we, cherished and loved,
rellecting beauty and divinity from above.

A Warrior's March.

Unfurl the banners, let them fly,
Sound the trumpets in the morning sky,
At dawn's first light come marching in,
A human sea,
A silver din,
Raise the standards,
Raise the cry,
Swords ring out: victory's nigh,
Drums a thunder, a warrior's march,
Arrows a flying, a burning arch,
Come ye brave ones who dare to taste,
The heat of battle,
Towards glory with haste,
Onward march, hearts a pounding,
Like horse's hooves on the earth a sounding,
Mail a glinting,
Steel a singing,
Herald triumph in hearts a ringing,
So unfurl the banners and let them fly,
To live in glory and in honour die.

Lament for Frankenstein

Thou art a wretched soul,
Not an image of thy creator,
But a mockery,
Twisted shadow of his thought:
A testimony to his arrogance

Thou art a lonely soul,
Abandoned, orphaned by a father
Who feared rather than loved thee,
Offspring of his unholy desire to birth
That which was never meant to be

Thou art a creature despised,
Scorned by their vanity,
Judged by their piety,
Imposters that hate thee,
For thou art the mirror of their blackened souls

Thou art a monster,
Made not by their hands,
but by their words, their deeds
When done they look upon your countenance,
and turn away, revolted, horrified

Renounce thee they do,
Renounce responsibility for an evil of their making.
So, lament Frankenstein
For you are not the last of your kind

The race of man breeds monsters
And understands not ,
That evil exists,
Not by birth, but by consequence

Lament Frankenstein
For others will follow your path to hell
long after you are gone.

Life

Life will break you.
This wicked thing,
Fooled you in your innocent years,
Built you up and then, without warning
Stripped you naked,
Humiliated you,
Deemed you unworthy,
An existence brought to nothingness

Life is two faced,
Hiding black lies beneath radiant smiles.
Dichotomous:

Delicate and lovely one moment, a fragile
thing spun of gossamer thread.
It winks and waves, beacons you close,
But reach out and touch it, it is gone, destroyed.

Savage and cruel the next
Like stone,
Cold, hard, unfeeling
Offering solace only in its firmness, its constance.
A sick pleasure you derive in knowing that it's real,
and through your pain so are you.

Life taunts you:
A tease with her chiffon veils,
Allowing glimpses of forbidden happiness,
and promises never meant to be fulfilled.
And you long for these promises, to drink the
sweet nectar of the Gods.

Like greedy children, you grasp and grab at it
But your cup shall not runeth over.
Instead it will slip though fingers that try to contain it,
to imprison it, to make it yours forever

But forever was never yours,
Instead, life consummated your virgin existence with
grief and loss,
Demanding that you bow down in reverence, nay, deference
before it.
Empty you are,
Torn,
Broken.

But somewhere as you lie in pieces,
You begin to understand,
That beauty is not birthed without pain,
That life is not perfect,
But it was never meant to be so,
You cannot fix it,
But it is not broken,
It just is.

Clairvoyance, comprehension of the beast's nature
was not meant for you.
Even the prophets, the geniuses could only
conceive pieces, that, if fitted together would
only compound the madness!

It was not meant for you to find purity in its'
perversion
It was meant for you to experience and, in so
doing find yourself and your truth.

Lancelot's Bane

They say that love is a blessing,
An exalted thing,
And if one were to behold you, my lady
Your heavenly frame,
One would wonder why I curse its very name

Or would they understand my suffering?
This torment that burns my very soul,
This desperate, dark longing

But this that we call love lady,
Is a cursed thing
A black spell bewitching us both,
Poison from a serpent’s sting

And I whom men hail as valiant and strong
Crumble, weakened before it, prostrate
A slave: helpless to its wrong

What once was beautiful
Now a vile and bitter thing,
That compels me to betray Lord and king

By day I embrace him,
He calls me brother,
In the dark of night I caress you,
You call me lover

Words like a dagger through my heart,
Bleeding, but the blood shed shall not be mine,
Snake am I, venom festering, killing slowly
Alas, the death shall not be mine

Oh Guinevere, fair lady!
Forgive me for coveting thee
For only grief has come of this love,
Too blind I was to see,
Caught in my abominable lust
Dominated by savage envy

My Lord Arthur,
Suffer not your rage on one so fair
Let me this burden, this badge of shame bear
Release her, I pray thee
Or know this tainted love of mine turned to wrath

I ride now, like a storm hard and fast
bearing her away from flames that would consume,
Haunted eyes stare at me,
a soul long cast into fires that would offer no redemption

Across the channel,
war they bring
Vengeance, betrayal’s price
Arms I raise now against my king

But the death blow shall come from Camelot,
Before the darkened walls,
Not by my hand, but yet by my bane
My lord and king falls

Oh, love, cursed is thy name!
Black are the days ahead
My lord has gone,
My lady followed,
No forgiveness can I ask of the dead

Penance I must offer,
Prayers for redemption,
Alone at this alter
Only death will give salvation.

Love black and vile
Has brought only pain
Birthed death and sorrow
Mine, my lady and my lord’s bane.
